The Age Rating is an App Store rating system intended to address parents’ concerns over in-app content. Apple’s rating system has four categories:
- +4 rating signifies that there is no objectionable material
- +9 rating signifies mild or infrequent violence and mature, suggestive, or horror-themed content, which is deemed not suitable for young children
- +12 rating signifies more frequent offensive language, violence, or other themes like gambling
- +17 rating requires the user to be 17 years or older and suggests sexual content, nudity, alcohol, tobacco, and drugs
In the iOS 10 App Store, Age Rating is situated next to the App Title. In iOS 11, the Age Rating is much more prominent and now located in the Evaluation Panel.
