The Description text is the cornerstone for describing an app. It is used to detail app features and functionality, and plays a significant role in keyword optimization.

In the iOS 10 App Store, the first five lines of the Description text are visible on the App Store Product Page before displaying the read “More” button. In iOS 11, only the first three lines (255 characters) of the Description are visible on the App Store Product Page before displaying the “More” button. The full Description can be up to 4,000 characters. In both App Store versions, Developers are only able to make updates to the Description when submitting a new version of their app. For the App Store, the median potential CVR lift for short Description optimization is 1%.

In the Google Play Store, the first 80 characters of the Description are visible on the Product Page before displaying the “Read More” button. The full Description can be up to 4,000 characters. For the Google Play Store, the median potential CVR lift for short Description optimization is 8%.
