What is Apple’s Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA)?

Simply put – IDFA is a unique Apple ID each mobile device has. The Identifier For Advertisers, better known as an IDFA, is (according to Apple) – “an alphanumeric string that’s unique to each device…”.

App marketers use IDFAs for advertising tasks, like tracking conversions, estimating unique users, and attributing sales.

It’s important to understand that, while Apple’s IDFAs give advertisers data regarding the behavior of App Store users, they do not reveal personal user information.

Why Are Identifier for Advertisers Important?

IDFAs are important because they allow advertisers to learn about their target audiences and the way said audiences interact with marketing campaigns. This information can then be used to craft better, more engaging ads that result in more installs, revenue, and success.

Note: The Android equivalent to Apple’s IDFA is known as a Google Advertising ID (GAID).
